The inn was built more than two centuries ago around 1794 and built to last with 18 inch thick, brick walls. It was a stagecoach stop during most of its early history and is still a welcome retreat to those traveling to the Berkshires. This cozy inn offers ten original wood-burning fireplaces, a beehive oven, a welcoming living room, charming breakfast room, and spacious, private grounds with beautiful gardens which extend down to the banks of the Housatonic River.
The ten individually decorated guest rooms all offer television, phones, wireless Internet, private baths, central heat in winter and room air conditioners in summer. The rooms on the third-floor were created out of a grand ballroom where New Englanders waltzed with abandon a century and a half ago. Four rooms still have the original wood-burning fireplaces in place.
